Events, sport and experience flights

Eventi SPJ
what you can't miss, and what you weren't expecting.

On one side, the days when half of Europe wants to land in the same place at the same hour: grands prix, finals, regattas, opening nights. On the other, the flights you take simply for the pleasure of it, over an island that from above is another thing entirely. Two different ways of using the same aircraft, and the same person lining them up for you.

Events and sport

Kick-off is at 21:00.
By 23:40 you're already flying home.

You don't turn up late to the big events, and you don't have to sleep away from home either. The flight is never the problem: the problem is six thousand people all wanting to leave within the same half hour, from an airport that already has half its slots allocated that night. Whoever knows it in advance leaves. Everyone else waits.

Motorsport

Formula 1 and MotoGP

Monaco, Monza, Imola, Barcelona, Le Castellet, Misano, Mugello. A race weekend is the textbook case: you arrive on Friday and leave right after the chequered flag, exactly when everyone else does.

Football

Away games and finals

Evening matches across Europe with a return the same night, board-level trips, agents moving during the transfer window. Groups of eight or ten on a single aircraft, too.

Sea

Regattas and sailing

Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo, America's Cup, Giraglia, sailing weeks. Owners, crews and race officers moving at short notice, with weather windows that keep changing.

Culture

Premieres, concerts, festivals

La Scala, Arena di Verona, Cannes Film Festival, major European concerts. Same night, no hotel, and no writing off the next day.

Golf and tennis

Tournaments and pro-ams

With the problem nobody thinks about: the bags. Four golf bags don't fit in a light jet, and finding out at the airport is too late. We ask first.

Business

Trade fairs and conventions

Salone Nautico, Vinitaly, Salone del Mobile, industry fairs. When there isn't a room left in town, in and out the same day is the only sensible answer.

The real problem

The hard part isn't finding the aircraft.
It's finding the space to put it.

On big event days the nearby airports cap slots and limit parking. Often the aircraft can't wait for you: it drops you off, repositions elsewhere, then comes back for you. Those two empty legs are a real cost, and whoever doesn't tell you before puts them on the invoice after.

  • Monaco in May. Nice and Cannes saturated, parking capped: you land and leave again, repositioning to Toulon, Cannes Mandelieu or Genoa.
  • Costa Smeralda in July and August. Olbia works at the limit, charges are on the high-season tariff and extended parking is capped. It is often better to send the aircraft back out to Alghero Fertilia and pick it up there.
  • The Alps from December to March. Chambéry and Sion have small aprons and mountain procedures: on changeover Saturday the slots run out, and when the weather closes in there is nothing to negotiate. Anyone who comes in through Geneva or Turin and carries on by helicopter loses fewer days.
  • The European finals. Slots assigned weeks in advance. Asking three days before doesn't mean paying more: often it means not going.
  • The rule of thumb. For an event with international pull you book two or three weeks out. Not for the price: to exist on the list.

The European calendar

When the airspace fills up.

Twelve months, from the Alps to the Cyclades. These are not official dates: they are the windows in which, every year, availability collapses and prices rise for reasons none of us controls.

PeriodWhat happens How far ahead to move
JanuaryThe Davos forum and the first ski weeks. Zurich, Geneva and Sion are saturated, and in Davos the ground space runs out before the hotel rooms do.6–8 weeks
February and MarchChangeover Saturday in the Alps. Chambéry, Geneva and Sion run at their limit: the slots run out before the runways do, and mountain weather decides the rest.4–6 weeks
AprilThe Salone del Mobile in Milan and Easter week. Linate is saturated for days, and the Amalfi Coast reopens all at once. 3–4 weeks
MayMonaco Grand Prix and Festival de Cannes, in the same week. The whole Côte d'Azur is saturated.4–6 weeks
JuneThe season opens on the Costa Smeralda and in the Balearics: regattas, the first cruises, the Champions League final. Demand jumps across the whole western Mediterranean.2–3 weeks
July and AugustThe absolute peak: Sardinia, the French Riviera, Ibiza, the Cyclades, the Amalfi Coast. Slots, parking and handling under pressure everywhere, summer rates on every line, and full aprons that force the aircraft to reposition. 3–4 weeks
SeptemberThe Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo, the Monaco Yacht Show, the Venice Film Festival. Fewer crowds overall, the same difficulty at weekends.2–3 weeks
OctoberEnd of season in Ibiza and Sardinia, autumn trade fairs on the mainland. Availability comes back, and empty legs multiply because every aircraft is heading north again.1–2 weeks
NovemberThe quietest month of the year. This is when it pays to fly and when empty legs cost least. Watch out for de-icing at mainland airports: it is a real line on the bill, not a detail.48–72 hours
DecemberChristmas and New Year. The Alps fill up from mid-month, and anyone flying to the Gulf or the Caribbean for New Year books in September — not in November.8–10 weeks
Advice that costs us money. If your event falls in one of these windows and the date is certain, ask for the quote now even if you decide later. Holding it costs nothing, and in August the difference between asking in June and asking in July isn't the price: it's availability.
Beyond the flight

Tickets, hospitality, transfers.
Held together by one single person.

Each piece is done by whoever does it for a living — ticketing by the ticket sellers, the flight by the carrier, the car by the chauffeur company — and holding them together, with a single point of contact, is our part.

Tickets and hospitality

Through authorised operators. If an event is sold out we tell you straight away, and we put forward the alternative that holds up.

Car on the apron

Waiting at the foot of the steps, not in the car park. On event days that's the difference between making it and not.

Hotels and villas

When staying beats flying back. We work that out with you too.

A written plan B

Alternative airport, alternative time, what happens if it rains. Agreed before, not improvised after.

Quota Smeralda · experience flights

Sardinia has a side
you can't see from the water.

Three hundred metres above Budelli the water has seven different colours, and not one of them shows from a boat. Twenty-five minutes in the air, and the holiday you were already having turns into something else — the one your guests will talk about for years.

25minthe shortest flight, and it's already enough
6passengers per aircraft; groups fly in rotations
4hnotice, when there's an aircraft in position

The routes

Five routes we know by heart.
And any other one you can think of.

Departures from Olbia, Cagliari, Alghero or straight from the lawn of your villa, where permits allow. Times are actual flight time, boarding not included.

01

The Archipelago

25–35 minutes · from Olbia or Porto Cervo

La Maddalena, Caprera, Spargi, Budelli with the Spiaggia Rosa you can no longer set foot on — but from up here you see all of it. You cross the Bocche di Bonifacio and come back along the Costa Smeralda. If there's room for only one route, this is the one we pick.

The right moment: two hours before sunset

02

The Golfo di Orosei

40–50 minutes · from Olbia or Tortolì

Cala Goloritzé, Cala Mariolu, Cala Luna: coves that cost half a day of sailing by boat and take ten minutes from the air, with cliffs dropping three hundred metres straight down. The most spectacular stretch of coast in the western Mediterranean.

The right moment: early morning, flat sea and light from the south

03

The South and the dunes

35–45 minutes · from Cagliari

Villasimius, Capo Carbonara, the Stagno di Molentargius with its flamingos, the salt pans that from above look like palettes of pink and ochre, and the dunes of Piscinas, among the largest dune systems in Europe. A landscape nobody associates with Sardinia until they see it.

The right moment: spring, when the flamingos nest

04

The North-West

30–40 minutes · from Alghero

Capo Caccia with the Grotta di Nettuno opening onto the sea, the Isola dell'Asinara and its white donkeys, the Riviera del Corallo. Then inland: the Nurra, the nuraghi seen from above, and Castelsardo perched on its rock.

The right moment: late afternoon, raking light on the cliff

05

Barbagia and the nuraghi

45–60 minutes · from Olbia or Cagliari

The Gennargentu, the Supramonte, the Gorropu gorge, the deepest canyon in Europe, and Su Nuraxi di Barumini, a World Heritage site. The Sardinia no tourist sees, because reaching it by car takes half a day and a road that turns back on itself.

The right moment: late September, when the air is clear

06

Yours

as long as you like · from wherever you like

Your grandparents' village from the air. The house you're buying. The golf course you're playing tomorrow. The exact spot where you met. Give us the coordinates, or just the name of the place: if it can be flown over, we'll fly over it.

All it takes is daylight and weather that allows it

These five itineraries are Sardinian because Sardinia is home: we have flown them, and we know the hour when the light is right. The scenic flight itself, though, is not a local speciality. It is arranged in exactly the same way over the Amalfi Coast from Capri to Punta Campanella, over the Tuscan archipelago, over the Calanques de Piana in Corsica, above the Mont Blanc massif and across the Cyclades. Tell us where you are and what you want to see: if it can be flown over, we will find someone who flies it.
The occasions

A scenic flight is just a ride.
Give it a reason and it becomes a memory.

These are the things people have actually asked us for, and that we've learned to organise. Each with its own timing, its own permits and its own details.

The question

Proposing at three hundred metres

The flight lasts twenty-five minutes, and there's a precise moment when the pilot slows over the cove you've chosen. Music in the headsets, a cold bottle waiting on landing and — if you want it — a photographer in a second helicopter filming the moment from outside. Nobody ever sees it coming.

  • Music in the headsets, chosen by you, cued to the exact spot
  • A toast on landing, on a jetty or a private lawn
  • Photography or aerial filming, with a second aircraft
  • The pilot knows. She doesn't. Keeping the secret is on us.
The wedding

The arrival that ends up in every photo

The bride stepping out of the helicopter onto the villa lawn. The couple's flight between the ceremony and the reception, while the guests arrive. The transfer for the people who matter, so you don't make them drive for an hour and a half.

  • Landing at the villa where permits allow: the area has to be surveyed and cleared, two or three days ahead
  • The couple's flight between ceremony and reception, fifteen or twenty minutes
  • Air shuttle for guests from Olbia, six at a time
  • We work with your wedding planner, not instead of them
Companies

The reward nobody forgets

Incentives for the sales force, closing the year, a key client to thank, a product launch. A scenic flight costs less than a gala dinner for twenty and is worth ten times as much as a memory.

  • Rotations of six passengers, up to thirty or forty people in a day
  • Departure from the resort or the conference centre, if there's a suitable area
  • Professional video and photography, ready to use for internal communications
  • Orderly documentation, with an invoice from each supplier
Aperitivo at altitude

You fly, you land, you toast

The format that works best of all: forty minutes of flight at sunset, landing somewhere you'd never reach by car, and an aperitivo served right there — a winery, a jetty, a beach with a permit, a resort terrace. Nobody drinks on board: you toast afterwards, and it makes more sense that way.

  • Vermentino di Gallura and Cannonau wineries, with a tour and tasting
  • Dinner aboard a boat waiting for you at anchor
  • Fly back, or a car with a driver if the toasting went well
How it actually works

Six things to know beforehand,
so there are no surprises.

  • You pay for the aircraft, not the seat. A six-seat helicopter costs the same whether there are two of you or six: splitting it between more people is the simplest way to bring the bill down.
  • The best seat is up front, and it rotates. On a machine with a 180° view, whoever sits behind sees just as well: we make the choice on weight and balance, not on preferences.
  • The weather is always in charge. Strong wind, fog or poor visibility stop the flight, and the decision is the captain's. If you don't fly because of weather, the flight moves to the first available window or is cancelled: the exact rebooking and refund terms are set by the operator and we give them to you in writing before you confirm.
  • The best light is in the two hours before sunset. It's also the most requested slot: in August it has to be booked days ahead, not hours.
  • Landing outside a heliport needs a permit. A villa lawn, a beach, a jetty, a field: you need the owner's authorisation and a survey of the area. Two or three days, not two hours.
  • You can fly by jet too. Over long distances — the whole island, or Corsica — a turboprop costs less and stays airborne longer. We'll tell you when it's the better call.
The archipelago seen from the helicopter, skid in the frame: turquoise shallows and islands
The flight is operated by a certified operator. Every part of the experience — flight, helicopter, car, welcome — is held together by us and done by whoever does it for a living, with its own line in the quotation: so you see what each one weighs and you choose.
Let's build it together

Tell us the occasion.
We'll take care of the rest.

The more you tell us, the more the proposal you get is yours and not a price list. We reply within 3 hours, with two or three options and open pricing.

How it works. The more you tell us about the occasion, the less the proposal looks like a price list. We reply within 3 hours with two or three different ways of doing it and the prices next to them. If it is a surprise, say so: we reply to you only.

If it's a surprise, say so: we won't put anything in writing to any other address.

If it isn't a one-off

At the big events
the slots run out before the seats.

For Monaco, for a final, for the September regatta it isn't about who pays more: it's about who asked first. Anyone in the Sardinia Club has their request read first, their preferences already written down and an alert when an empty leg comes up on their routes. Over three trips a year that's the difference between going and watching it on television.

and what time you need to be seated.

We build the rest backwards: landing time, take-off time, the right airport and the back-up plan.

The calendar, with the real dates

The fixtures that fill the airports between now and September 2027. Every date comes from the organiser’s own site or the federation’s official calendar: provisional sporting dates are marked as such, and dates not yet published are listed at the bottom instead of being guessed.

How far ahead to move

In the months where events overlap the airports saturate and the slot, not the aircraft, becomes the constraint. September 2026 and January 2027 are the two bottlenecks: two consecutive regattas at Olbia, the boat show and the Monaco Yacht Show at Cannes, Kitzbühel and Davos in the same January week.

One thing we say before you ask

We do not sell tickets, entry or hospitality: we fly you and your luggage to the right airport, and the last leg by helicopter or car with driver. The rest is for those who do it for a living.

Dates not yet published

We track them and add them here as soon as they are out. If you need one of these, write now: you can book anyway and confirm when the date is published.
