Private jet flights

It's not a better-looking aircraft.
It's a day handed back to you.

First-time private flyers buy comfort. The ones who come back buy the six hours they pocket every time: no queues, no connections, no night in a hotel because the last flight left at 18:40.

The categories

Six categories.
The difference isn't luxury: it's physics.

How much runway you need, how far you fly without stopping, how many bags actually fit, and whether you can stand up in the cabin. Everything else is furniture.

01

Turboprop

6–9 seats · up to 3,000 km · 800 m runway

The most underrated aircraft on the market, and where the runway is short often the right one: the smaller Sardinian airfields, Ogliastra, but also Alpine airfields and islands without a long runway. It gets in where jets can't, burns a third of the fuel, and under two hours it arrives at much the same time. It has a proper baggage hold, which light jets lack.

Pilatus PC-12 NGX · Beechcraft King Air 350

02

Very Light Jet

4–5 seats · up to 2,200 km · 950 m runway

The cheapest way onto a jet. Two people and one bag each, short legs, a basic lavatory. On Milan–Nice, Olbia–Rome or Geneva–Paris it does its job without apologising.

Citation Mustang · Phenom 100 · HondaJet

03

Light Jet

6–8 seats · up to 3,700 km · 1,000 m runway

The category that answers most of the requests we get, in Italy and across Europe. It covers the whole continent without a stop, lands almost anywhere, and with six people on board it gives the best return for what it costs.

Phenom 300E · Citation CJ3+ · PC-24 · Learjet 75

04

Midsize and Super Midsize

7–10 seats · up to 6,500 km · 1,200 m runway

You move up for three reasons, never for prestige: the sector runs over two and a half hours, there are more than six passengers with real luggage, or you need an enclosed lavatory and enough privacy to work on board.

Citation XLS+ · Praetor 500 · Challenger 350 · Gulfstream G280

05

Heavy

10–14 seats · up to 11,000 km · 1,600 m runway

You can stand up, you can genuinely sleep, and the group can split into two zones without sitting on top of each other. This is the category for medium-haul and for large groups with a lot of luggage.

Falcon 900LX · Challenger 650 · Legacy 650 · Gulfstream G450

06

Ultra Long Range

13–19 seats · over 12,000 km · 1,800 m runway

Intercontinental non-stop, with proper beds and a lower cabin altitude so you arrive less tired. One detail almost nobody mentions: the Falcon 7X and 8X stay under 35 tonnes, which makes them among the very few in this category admitted to Cannes Mandelieu.

Falcon 7X and 8X · Global 6000 · Gulfstream G650ER

How the choice is really made

Four questions,
and the category picks itself.

  • How long is the flight? Under two hours, almost nobody regrets taking the smaller category. Over three, the cabin starts to count more than the hourly rate.
  • How many of you, and with what luggage? The constraint isn't weight, it's volume. A light jet has 0.6–1.5 m³: four medium cases, not six large suitcases. Golf bags, skis and pushchairs have to be declared in advance.
  • Where exactly are you landing? Saint-Tropez La Môle has a 1,071-metre runway, of which about 930 metres are usable: few jets get in, and the captain needs a mountain rating. Cannes Mandelieu does not accept turbojets above 35 tonnes. The runway decides, not taste.
  • Do you need to stand up? Below 1.50 m of cabin height you stay seated the whole way. Between 1.50 and 1.80 you move around stooped. Above 1.80 you walk. On our booking the height is there for every model, together with the seating plan.

Four ways to use it

The requests we actually get.

The impossible day

Milan at eight, Geneva at midday, Nice in the afternoon, home for dinner. On scheduled flights that takes two days and a night in a hotel.

The weekend that really lasts two days

You leave on Friday at seven in the evening instead of Saturday at dawn, and come back Sunday night instead of Monday. That is twenty-four hours more, not a whim.

The group that stays together

Eight people on scheduled flights in August means three different flights and two stopovers. On a whole aircraft it is one single journey, and the figure per head often surprises.

What can't be said in an airport

A negotiation, a signature, a bereavement, news that must not get out. A private cabin isn't an indulgence: it is the only place where you can talk.

From request to take-off

Five steps, and none of them is a surprise.

1

Type in the two cities

From the booking page, in sixty seconds. You don't need to know the airport code or which aircraft to ask for.

2

You get the estimate, itemised

Straight away, with the route's unavoidable costs already in. It is the figure you start from, and we tell you where it comes from.

3

The confirmed quotation arrives

Usually within three hours, with the actual aircraft, the operator providing it and a firm price. In high season it can take longer: we tell you.

4

You sign with the operator

The contract of carriage is with them, and the flight is theirs to answer for. We stay alongside throughout: if anything changes — the timing, the slot, the weather — you hear it from us before anyone else.

5

You arrive fifteen minutes before

Private terminal, no queue, no gate. Your name, the aircraft, and you're away.

Give us the two cities.
We'll take care of the category.

And if the category you had in mind is bigger than you need, we say so. It earns us less, and it is why people come back.

The price, in full

Six items make the difference
between an estimate and a contract.

When a first figure looks too good, it is almost always because it contains the flight and nothing else. This is nobody’s particular trick — it is how the market works. Knowing the items is what lets you compare two quotes that are genuinely talking about the same thing.

Positioning

The aircraft is almost never where you are. The flight that brings it to you, and the one that takes it away, are real flights and somebody pays for them. In our figure they are already there.

Parking and repositioning

In high season a full apron forces the aircraft to move to another airport for the whole of your stay: two more empty flights. It is known in advance, and it is said in advance.

Airport charges and handling

They change from airport to airport and they change with the season. They are the main reason an estimate found online drifts away from the contract.

Passenger tax

On air-taxi flights Italy applies a state tax per passenger, due by law and paid over by the carrier. It is not a mark-up and it is not negotiable: it is written down.

Crew waiting time

If the aircraft waits for you at destination instead of returning, the crew has duty limits and a waiting cost. It is the item that most often surprises people coming back late the same day.

Ground services

Car with driver, helicopter for the last stretch, particular catering. We always quote these separately, with the figure written: they are not flying and they should not hide inside the flight.

We send one figure, taxes included. Where we do not have a number yet we write «to be quoted»: it reads less smoothly, and it is the only honest thing to write.
